- As the company (ridepooling service) was looking for new business opportunities, I have developed multiple R&D streams, enabling prioritisation of those potential directions and informing changes to product strategy.
- In the frame of that R&D work, I have explored new problem spaces and created design concepts, focusing on their strategic value, perspectives and dependencies.
- Being able to see designed solutions in the context of value and dependencies made it possible for the company to make better planning decisions and optimize ROI.

My role
Essentially, my task was to research (vaguely shaped) problems, synthesize possible solution vectors, and iterate those with a focus on value, dependencies and efforts. My goal was to facilitate stakeholder decisions in the process of opportunities alignment.
In the context of a ridepooling service, for which I was doing this job, there could be questions like: "How can we begin supporting autonomous vehicles?", "How users without smatrphones can book rides?" or "Does it make sense to automate charging of electric vehicles during the operation?"
Process
The process was similar to a design sprint, I was aiming to timebox steps:
- Explore the problem space, understand context, potential and perspectives
- Understand technical limitations and implications, collect ideas (technical feedback sessions)
- Develop user flows for possible solutions, understand + and - in terms of UX
- Get stakeholder feedback, explore dependencies in terms of value: which potential can be unlocked?
- Prepare a “pitch deck” that may also include a clickthrough prototype, userflow or a journey map, together with a scheme of potential value, limitations and dependencies.
- Once the concept was getting priority and selected for development, I handed it over to a matching team and supported during the implementation.
Results
Informed by my research and concept development, the company could do better planning and optimize return of investment.
